Safety

Safety is our first Priority
We here at Three Arm Adventures understand that riding off road can be an absolute joy! We also are aware of the fact that certain obstacles exist in the woods that can cause damage to one’s self or one’s vehicle. Our goal is not to cause concern, but rather to give insight and knowledge gained over a combined 34 years of experience. We highly recommend All The Gear All The Time(ATGATT) and practice it ourselves on every ride.
We have also built a list of gear that we recommend and a list of gear that that we absolutely require.

Required Gear

1. Helmet
2. Eye protection
3. Boots
4. Pants
5. Long sleeve shirt

We are certain that everyone understands the need to protect one’s head and eyes but we have had a few questions about why boots are essential. Allow us to explain. Imagine yourself out for a hike, and your going down a rocky section. Now imagine stumbling and having to stomp your foot down hard to keep from falling, no problem, you had on good hiking boots right? Now imagine having to stomp your foot at 10 miles per hour or possibly more, with about 100 more pounds to support. Hiking boots aren’t going to cut it, dear friends. It is absolutely essential to have off road specific boots that are built for such impacts and pressures. Not only do they provide protection, but they also provide support that assists in standing up on the bike during bumpy sections making the ride more enjoyable. Long sleeved clothes are required to help keep bare skin from sunburn and the occasional brush that is encountered on trails.

Recommended Gear

  1. Knee pads
 2. Elbow pads
 3. Chest/Roost guard
 4. Gloves

Naturally, if one is going to be moving through the woods at any pace above walking pace, they should consider getting every piece of protection they can get. We do not require but HIGHLY recommend ATGATT and we recommend apparel made for riding as well. If you need assistance in locating gear and apparel we recommend our friends at Big Number 1 Motorsports for all of your protection needs

Rules and Safety : About

Trail Safety and Rules

Now that we’ve covered protecting ourselves, let’s focus on protecting our friends and our ride.
Rule 1. Our first rule on the trail is nobody gets left behind. We are very good at stopping after each challenging section to ensure the entire group progresses together. Furthermore, we have communication systems in our helmets to keep track of everyone so we can stop and help and teach everyone as we go. (We will always have a small set of tools,a few extra waters, and a first aid kit should the need arise.)

Rule 2. Obey and follow the guides. No passing the trail lead unless instructed to do so. If the trail lead pulls over, you pull over, there’s a reason he stopped. If the trail sweep tells you something about correcting your body position, do what he says. We are here to help not hurt.

Rule 3.  no passing on the trails. It’s fun to race your buddy and we understand, but there is a time and place for everything and the trails are not it. We ride in single file to ensure everyone has ample space and can comfortably traverse obstacles and turns without issue. In the event that you want to pass the rider ahead, you must wait until the end of the trail or a group stop, then pull up ahead of that rider. If you are the rider who has been passed, don’t be competitive, just enjoy your ride. If anyone is caught passing on trail they will be placed in the rear of the group for the rest of the day or their ride will be canceled without refund depending on the severity of the offense.

Rule 4. no crowding the rider ahead. When riding on trail in a group there is nothing more frustrating and potentially intimidating than a rider all over your tail revving his engine and all of 2 feet behind you…. Don’t be that guy! Wait your turn and pass where allowed (end of the trail). There will be plenty of trails to ride, dont worry.
Additionally, when approaching a hill climb or seemingly difficult section, lay back, wait your turn, and make sure the rider ahead clears before you proceed. Once again, breaking this rule will result in the offending rider being placed in the rear.

Rule 5: no cutting your own trail Not only is this dangerous and foolish, but also highly frowned upon by the ride parks. In some cases you could get the entire group removed for the day. So in a word..Don’t

Rules will be covered in every riders meeting at the beginning of the day and everyone will agree and understand before the day begins.
